The Little French Bistro, Nina George, Penguin Random, June 13 2017
George had a huge hit with The Little Paris Bookshop and she is back with another good read for this summer with The Little French Bistro. This time the setting is the coast of Brittany, where our heroine, Marianne, finds herself when she escapes her loveless marriage in Paris. The overall themes of self-discovery, confidence and chasing a dream are good at any age!
The Templar’s Last Secret, Martin Walker, Knopf, June 13 2017
Here is what Walker’s writing does to me: I open the door to get the morning papers and I am shocked I am not in the Dordogne. Bruno, our favorite French village Chief of Police is back, this time fighting terrorists who dare to invade his beloved town. The characters are all interesting and the Chief’s life continues to be full, and yet he is still missing the spark of finding a lasting special someone. Another great novel in a fun, atmospheric mystery series.
